About the Grounds

A campsite that doesn't feel like a compromise.

Lewis Lake Campground was built for people who don't want to choose between comfort and wilderness. Every site is nestled among mature pines with lake views, fire rings, and enough privacy to forget the next site is even there.

Located on Grand Loop Road in Cody, Wyoming, we sit on the edge of the Greater Yellowstone Ecosystem — close enough to the park to catch the morning mist rolling off Yellowstone Lake, far enough to sleep under a sky full of stars.

Whether you're basing yourself for a Yellowstone trip or just need a quiet place to unplug for a weekend, the grounds are set up to let the landscape do the talking.

The Experience

Yellowstone's backyard, without the crowds.

Lewis Lake sits at the edge of one of the most extraordinary watersheds in North America. The lake itself is stocked with cutthroat trout, and the surrounding lodgepole pine forest is home to elk, deer, and the occasional bear making its way between the park and the valley.

From here, you're a short drive to Yellowstone's South Entrance — but the real advantage is what you leave behind: the traffic, the noise, the rushed itinerary. At Lewis Lake, the pace is set by the water and the wind in the pines.

Guest Words

What people say after a stay.

"We came through on the way to Yellowstone and ended up staying three nights. The lake is beautiful, the sites are private, and we slept better than we have in months."

Sarah M. Portland, OR

"Perfect basecamp for the park. Quiet, clean, and the hosts were respectful of your space. The morning fog on the lake is something I'll remember."

Tom R. Boise, ID

"Took the kids camping for the first time. The sites are spacious, the water is calm, and there's no cell service — which turned out to be the best part."
